Toby Zerna is multi-award winning photojournalist with over 20 years experience working with media, government and corporate clients.

Throughout his extensive career, Toby Zerna has produced content covering a wide range of subjects.

From working as Head of Visual Content for former NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet capturing his daily political life and campaign activities, to live action sports and crowd colour from two FIFA World Cups, skilfully shooting drone footage from the moving replica tall ship, The Endeavour on a trip from Noumea to Australia, or taking celebrity portraits.

Career Highlights

Career highlights include producing content that covered:

• Federal and state election campaigns, including the in-house experience working with Dominic Perrottet’s team

• Two Football World Cups (South Africa 2010 and Russia 2018 – producing photography and video content for all mastheads within News Corp Aus)

• Global media assignments that covered natural disasters and war zones (ANZAC Day in Afghanistan, Padang earthquake, Lismore and Sydney floods, bush fires)

• Celebrity portraits
• Unique experiences like preparing to retrace Captain Cook’s circumnavigation of Australia for the 250th anniversary (which involved sailing on the replica tall ship The Endeavour from New Caledonia to Sydney capturing every angle including launching and retrieving a drone from the deck of the moving ship)

• Walkley Award finalist for Outstanding News Photo in 2015 among other award wins and nominations including National Geographic Australia – Nature Photographer of the Year, PANPA, Moran Contemporary Photographic Award, News Corp Awards and Kennedy Awards,

From 2007-2012 I spearheaded News Corp’s foray into video content which included shooting and editing video packages for multiple mastheads and created a 3 day course to train other photojournalists in how to shoot and edit video in partnership with the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.
